Best Wine for Beginners: A No-Stress Guide to Finding What You Like
Are you ready to learn more about wine, but not sure where to start? Well, you’re in the right place. At Grovedale Winery, we can help you find the best wine for beginners, and we don’t serve it with a pretentious side of judgement. Everyone is welcome here.
At Grovedale Winery, we believe wine should feel approachable, not intimidating. Whether you love sweet wines, dry reds, or something in between, the best wine for beginners is simply the one you enjoy drinking.
How To Find Out What Wine You Like
Finding what you like usually takes a little trial and error. You may have to kiss a few proverbial frogs before discovering your favorite pour, and honestly, that’s part of the fun.
One of the easiest ways to find what you like is through a wine tasting (calling all Wyalusing, PA locals!). Instead of committing to an entire bottle, you can sample several styles and figure out what you actually like. If you want to keep exploring, our wine club is another great option because you’ll regularly receive a variety of wines to try at home.
What Temperature Should Wine Be Served At?
You’ll hear lots of “rules” about wine temperature, but don’t overthink it. White wines are usually served chilled (throw in an ice cube if you need to, it will be fine), while reds are often best slightly below room temperature. But if your favorite red spent 20 minutes in the fridge before dinner? We promise the wine police won’t show up.
Does the Wine Glass Matter?
Technically? Yes. Different glasses can highlight different aromas and flavors.
Realistically? Use what you have.
At Grovedale Winery, we’re much more interested in whether you’re enjoying yourself than whether your white wine is in the “correct” glass. Fancy stemware is optional.
How Long Is Wine Good After Opening?
Honestly, we’re not entirely sure. We’ve never had leftover wine.
But seriously, most wines are best within 3–5 days after opening if properly sealed and refrigerated. Sparkling wines usually lose their fizz faster.
How Should You Store Open Wine?
Recork it and keep it in the refrigerator. Even red wines last longer when chilled after opening.
