4 Things to do in NEPA This Winter

The winter season can be pretty boring if you don’t make it a point to go out and enjoy some winter activities. Try to get out this season and enjoy all of the things this area has to offer. Enjoy this list of 4 things to do this winter in NEPA. 

1. Grovedale Winery Ice Rink

Visit Grovedale Winery in Wyalusing, PA! Not only can you enjoy some local wine and cheese platters, but they also have an ice skating rink that is free to enjoy. They also have a select number of ice skates that you can use during your visit, or you can bring your own. The rink is open based on weather, so be sure to check their instagram or facebook stories to see if the rink is open the day you plan to visit. Stop by, enjoy some wine, ice skate, and warm up by their fire pit for a fun winter day.

2. Snowtubing 

If you're looking for a winter getaway try visiting White Lightning Snowtubing at the Pocono Mountain Villas by Exploria Resorts in East Stroudsburg. Just make sure to dress warm! White lightening is open late-December through mid-March. Check out their website for more information. 

 

3. Ice Festivals

Another great activity to enjoy in NEPA is ice festivals. Clarks Summit, PA has a festival of ice from January 27th-29th this year. They’ll be having beautiful live ice carvings along with live music, games, and carriage rides. 

Scranton, PA also has an ice festival. The opening coincides with First Friday in Scranton. You can stroll through downtown to see ice sculptures, demonstrations, lives music, and plenty of vendors! 

4. Visit the Lackawanna State Park

Visit the Lackawanna State Park! If the weather permits you can always ice fish, skate, and just enjoy how beautiful the park looks during the winter time. This February 11th there will be a Winter Fest held there. You will be able to try out snowshoes, learn how to ice fish, ice skate, make a pinecone bird feeder, and more! Equipment for all activities will be provided on a first-come/first-served basis, except ice skates for the skating area.
