Life around the vineyard and winery are as busy as ever! With festival season drawing to a close, we have been focusing on bottling all the “old favorite ” wines, as well as a few new surprises to add to the collection of Grovedale wines in your cellar (if they make it that far). The anticipated release will be sometime in August.
Shortly after that, we will begin harvest season for the 2011 wines. That is always an exciting time for Grovedale! Even though we were hit by a late frost, the summer has been so warm and dry (just the way the vines like it) that we are expecting a beautiful crop this year…as long as the rain continues to hold out. We would love to share the excitement of harvest with you and are always looking for volunteers, so if you are interested, please contact us to join the team.
The results are in for the International Eastern Wine Competition!!! We are thrilled that several of our wines won medals! These include:
2008 Cabernet Franc – GOLD!
2008 Riesling – Silver
2008 Merlot – Bronze
2008 Cabernet Sauvignon – Bronze
Finally, please remember to mark your calendar for a few of the upcoming Grovedale Events! The last (and one of our favorite festivals) is coming up! The Wyalusing Valley Wine Festival is September 11th, right here on the property. It is always a great festival, with a lively bunch of wine enthusiasts! Also, October 8th is a night of live music from two amazing local bands, with dancing, appetizers, and (of course) wine. All the money from the entrance fee goes to the Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce. Last year was an absolute blast! We hope you are able to join us this year!
Please stop by the tasting room soon! We look forward to sharing all the Grovedale excitement with you!
Cheers!
